It looks like a real house now!

In January 2007 the awful weather continued, but the builder managed to finish the roof (stage 4) in the dry spells. His men stuck a bay branch into a chimney to celebrate. We were told that following the Portuguese tradition they would also have a feast with a sucking pig.

Work continued inside the house. The plumbing, electrical wiring and central heating pipes were put in (stage 7), and despite the weather February saw the external render and door and window sills (stage 6) completed except for the fireplace.

By March the internal plastering was well advanced, and it was time to start tiling, but two sets of tiles ordered from Spain for the bathrooms had not arrived.
